The iconic music guitar star was entirely self-taught until deep into U2’s career. In 1995, he received his first formal training with the instrument. He was born on 13 March 1960 in Dublin, Ireland to Brian and Jo Clayton.
He has recorded 14 studio albums with U2. As a part of U2, he has received 22 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. In his school, he met Paul Hewson aka Bono of U2. In September 1976, Bono, the Edge, Mullen, Dik Evans, and Clayton formed a band called Feedback, later it was changed to The Hype & finally it was named U2. They shared a commitment not only to ambitious rock music but also to a deeply spiritual Christianity.
Guided by lead vocalist Bono, U2 earned worldwide popularity. The success story started with The Joshua Tree album (1987) and the number one hits “With or Without You” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,”. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
He was responsible for many iconic movie soundtracks like Mission: Impossible. The song reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance in 1997. Adam Clayton played the song “The Marguerita Suite” on Sharon Shannon’s self-titled debut album.
