Studio headphone & it's effect on recording

Music is the art by which the beauty of sound creates the magic called music. But now it needs something more to create music. Recording music goes through an extensive process. Music and technology are now interconnected. We have already discussed Studio Monitors for home recording, in our earlier blog. In our today’s blog, the Studio headphone will be discussed. One of the indispensable parts of any recording studio.

When a home studio is creating like many types of equipment high-quality studio headphones are required to create a recording. A studio headphone is a tool for the recording studio. But why do we use headphones? The headphone is needed to recreate sound perfectly flawless.

Usage of Studio headphones

They’re used for recording and mixing audio. That’s why the singer is almost always wearing large headphones while recording, even when they’re playing with other musicians. By using headphones they can help block out the actual sound of the instruments and allow them to only listen to their own recording setup sounds. This will give you another reference of your levels before you take the mix for testing on other stereo systems.

Wearing headphones gives another advantage of getting rid of overdubbing.  It is the most common problem faced by music creators whether they are singers, rappers, musicians. They need to take many attempts to make it crystal clear.

In music recording, monitoring is a tool for editing, by listening out the recorded sound the music can be flawless. Any wrong note or unnecessary music can spoil a perfect tune.

Studio headphones are more high quality and durable. So that they can last for several years of constant use, at the same time they also providing the comfort needed to be able to wear them for hours on end.

Types of Studio Headphones

The main types of headphones are three. i.e namely: open‑back, closed‑back, and semi-open.

Open-back headphones

Open-back headphones are those types of headphones that have fully open ear can designs. that covers the area behind the driver in a straight line away from the side of your head. This type allows some of the sound to go out.  This creates a different listening experience where the bleeding background noise allows for a more ambient and spacious feel. This is a lighter type, comfortable to wear for a longer time.

Closed‑back headphones

Closed‑back headphones are those types that cover the area behind the driver in a straight line away from the side of your head. Closed headphones prevent sound from escaping. This makes it perfect for vocalists and musicians who record while listening to a guide track in the studio, reducing the risk of sound leaking into the microphone. It’s most commonly used.

Semi-open headphones

Semi-open headphones it is more balanced between the two types, earlier said.  But somehow they are more similar to the open-back one. They may not be perfect but we think they can provide enough isolation for some professional tracking applications.

Conclusion

With our little effort, we have here to try to give you an essence of the word called Studion headphone and some of its role. Stay tuned we will bring more in coming blogs. So. make music, learn music, dream music.
