She has enthralled us with her enchanting voice for over a decade now. Her ability to connect with her listeners is unparalleled. She has lent her voice to some iconic Bollywood songs and has won numerous awards, including four National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards. In this blog post, we pay tribute to the one and only Sherya Ghoshal.
The name Shreya Ghoshal needs no introduction. She is one of the most popular and successful playback singers in India. From young girls to women of all ages, everyone loves her voice and her songs. Ghoshal has lent her voice to many Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, and Kannada.
She was born on 12th March 1984 in Murshidabad, West Bengal, India. She started her music career at the age of four, when she won the first prize at a singing competition organized by the television channel Star Plus. After that, there was no looking back for Shreya Ghoshal. She kept winning accolades and awards in various singing competitions right through her school and was one of the six winners of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest organised by Zee TV in 2002. After winning the contest, she was signed by the channel as a playback singer.
During her debut, in the movie Devdas, Ghoshal sang 5 super hit songs, “Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka”, “Bairi Piya”, “Chalak Chalak”, “Morey Piya”, and “Dola Re Dola.” There are numerous record breaking numbers we have been gifted by her like Teri Ore, Jadu hai Nasha Hai, Jab Saiyaan , Param Sundari , Manwa Laage and many more.
She has given us innumerable hits and entertained us for years now.
