Life of Rabindra Nath Tagore
Kabiguru , the name is enough in Indian Literature, who left a great mark on World Music, Poetry. Biswakabi, Rabindra Nath Tagore was born on 7th May 1861 in an affluent Tagore family in Kolkata’s Jorasanko Thakur Bari. Bengalis used to celebrate the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore according to the Bengali calendar ,the day is renowned as Pochise Boishakh. The day is called Rabindra Jayanti. He was the Grandson of Prince Dwarkanath Tagore,first Indian Industrialist & Son of Maharshi Debendra Nath Tagore. He was the youngest of all 14 siblings.

Rabindra Nath Tagore created a new dimension in Indian Music called Rabindra Sangeet. He has been the First Indian rather First Asian Nobel Laureate for Literature. He wrote “Gitanjali “ a collection of Poems in both the languages Bengali & translated to English by himself, which took him to the high to achieve the supreme prize, Nobel 1913.
Tagore created more than 2000 songs & 2 of them are the national anthems of 2 countries India & Bangladesh. Rabindra Sangeet is influenced by Hindustani classical music, Carnatic Classical Music, Western & Folk music of Bengal but modified them with the unique touch of own texture of Tagore’s. He made them less rigid than the earlier version of Classical music, he made mixed musical themes( Mixed Raag ) which created a poetic touch in Songs.
Rabindra Nath Thakur wrote Gitabitan, which has been divided into some Porjay ( Periods). These are named as Puja(Devotion), Prem (Romance),Prokriti (Nature), Swadesh ( Homeland), Anusthanik( Occasional), Bibidho ( Various), Porisistho (Remaining).
He possessed literary excellence the British Government also accepted the truth & nominated for another honour called Knight. But Kabiguru gave up that for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919,that made him more humane.
Rabindranath Tagore founded Brahmo Vidyalaya in 1901 at Birbhum, Shantiniketan. First open air school. Not only as a bengali as an eminent Indian personality with music was Rabindra Nath Tagore.
