One of the greatest lead singers in the history of rock music, Freddie Mercury was born on 5th September, 1946 in Zanzibar to Parsi – Indian family. His real name was Farrokh Bulsara. Freddie Mercury did his schooling in India, afterwards due to Zanzibar Revolution they moved to Middlesex, England. Where his study and passion took place simultaneously. He started to write songs there, for the remarkable upcoming career as a rock star. He formed a band in London, called Queen.
With the flamboyant performance and powerfully agile vocals, most famously for the band Queen, made him one of greatest rock icon. Freddie met his band’s founder members, Roger Taylor and Brian May in London in 1970. On that year group Queen formed. They met up with bassist John Deacon in 1971. They all made rock history. The debut album of the band Queen, titled Queen, in 1973. In the following year they released their second album, Queen II. Mercury wrote numerous hits for Queen, including “Killer Queen”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Somebody to Love”, “We Are the Champions”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. He was having a speciality of four-octave vocal range.
The immortal number ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was released in 1975. Made a history itself, took Mercury in new high. He renowned worldwide, as charted and loved around Europe, Japan. In 1979 their new chart buster was Freddie’s song ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’. Their fourth album, A Night at the Opera (1975) was bigger hit. Their hit machine continued with A Day at the Races (1976), News of the World (1978) and The Game (1980). After The Works (1984). Queen got the award an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection.
Their phenomenal success Queen took place at Live Aid in 1985. He wrote most of his songs on the piano and used a wide variety of key signatures. Mercury released the solo record Mr. Bad Guy in the same year. 1995 on Made In Heaven, was the last album with all the original members. Though Mercury appeared posthumously in this album. We have lost him 1991. But the greatest, controversial, most talented rock icon will be always remembered in our heart. In this short life he stole all the heart worldwide.
