Sonu Nigam is not a mere name in the Indian Music Industry. His versatile style of singing along with his tremendous talent blew away the audience’s hearts worldwide. As a tiny tot at the tender age of 4, he conquered the stage with the hit number of the veteran legendary singer Mohammad Rafi’s “Kya Hua Tera Wada” which stole the attention of viewers.
His first blockbuster hit was the melancholy song of the movie Bewafa Sanam, ” Accha Sila Diya” in 1995. This song is still on a hit list of Bollywood sad songs. Though the movie couldn’t succeed at the box office, this song has made a remarkable success which initiated the success of Sonu Nigam. Though his debut playback was “O Aasman Wale” from Aaja Meri Jaan in the year 1992. His road to success continued with many remarkable playback songs.
“Sandese Aate Hai” from the movie Border, “Yeh Dil Deewana ” from Pardesh the twin evergreen blockbuster of the year 1997, which took him to a different level. The trend continued rather than overtook the success story of Nigam with the title track of Kal Ho Naa Ho which featured the superstar Shahrukh Khan in 2003 is just a masterpiece of a singer’s performance. Another one is in 2012 with the remake of Agneepath, “Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin” a touchy one which touched the soul of every audience.
Sonu Nigam hosted the musical show of Zee TV, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for the first early years from 1995-2000 & took it to the highest TRP level. So as a presenter, he has been unbeatable. His album Deewana in 1999 is the best seller to date.
His trends were not only limited to a single category rather he left his mark on Bollywood Playback, Pop Rock, Classical, and Semi-Classical to the Gazal. He did his playback in all most every language in India, but Hindi and Kannada are the main ones. He also acted in a few Bollywood movies.
He achieved many honors in his career including like National Awards in 2003, Filmfare Awards & Filmfare Awards South.
