In production of music which type of instrument is better A MIDI Keyboard or just A
Keyboard is an interesting topic to argue. Before going into the conclusion let’s analyse
both the Keyboards.
MIDI Keyboard
is just a piano style electronic device which is simply looks like normal keyboard that transmits and receives midi information, it can’t built any sound in itself, so an extra source which can be a computer,a sound module or MIDI enabled hardware instrument needs to be attach to create the sound or the music. It helps to activate or set off sound from any module or a sound card.

It’s the instrument which can create music by it’s own, no additional or external unit is needed to be attached

1.Portability- Keyboard is far more portable than the other keyboard,it can be taken anywhere.
2.Variety of options- The normal keyboard have more options and control to create new
tunes as it’s free from any additional part, than A MIDI Keyboard as it is bounded to other
external part.
3.Live in Concert- On stage in front of audience keyboard is the option to be choosed.
4.Features of MIDI Keyboards- MIDI Keyboard brings faders, pads, knobs, and displays
which the normal keyboards are lacking.
5. Extra features- MIDI controller has the option of Expression pedal input and Aftertouch.
There are very rare keyboards are having these options but too expensive.
6. Feelings- Keyboards will give you the traditional feel of a piano where as MIDI Controller
is the modern technique and software use to modify volume ,sound , tone to create new
tunes. So, one is a nostalgia other is a new era.
Conclusion-
In above points first 3 emphasizes on Keyboards but next 2 on MIDI Controller. Last one is
based on the personal feelings that is the main aspect of choosing between the above
mentioned two.
As the two are perfectly rendering their objects when they are needed. So, a midi
controller and a keyboard cannot be used interchangeably, there are some options can be
taken to get the best of both worlds.
